Luxury Silk Combined With Durable Wool
Have you always wanted a silk rug but have been advised not buy one because they are expensive and fragile? We have the perfect solution for you! When silk and wool are combined together, the material becomes much more durable. Silk, on its own, is a luxuriously soft fiber, but when combined with the strength of wool, it becomes a great textile. Our wool and silk rugs are one-of-a-kind hand knotted works of art to display in your home.
How to Care For a Wool and Silk Rug
1. Try to limit the amount of foot traffic that reaches your rug
To ensure that your wool and silk rug is maintained for years to come, we recommend showcasing this rug in a room with less foot traffic, such as a dining room, office, or formal sitting room.
2. Vacuum regularly (without a beater bar!)
Normally we recommend vacuuming a wool rug one to two times a month. However, silk needs to be vacuumed more often, about once every 2 weeks, because dust can build up on the silk fibers. Whereas on wool, the debris falls into air pockets
3. Rotate Often
Rotating your rug every few months is like giving it new life! It can also avoid sun damage if your rug sits where sunlight is hitting it

Do you have any advice on how to clean wool and silk area rugs?
Wool and silk area rugs should be vacuumed fairly often- about once every two weeks. We recommend taking your wool and silk oriental rug to a professional cleaner at least once every 2 or 3 years. For accidents, spills, and stains, you should immediately blot the affected area with warm water using a cloth. Next, use a solution of 1 part water and 1 part white vinegar to blot the same spot. Be sure to use another dry cloth to absorb the liquid. If this still isn’t uplifting the stain out of your oriental rug, try adding sprinkling some baking soda on top of the stain and blotting it with the vinegar mixture. This is the most effective way to clean a wool and silk area rug without risking damage to the rug.
Should I be weary about silk rug care?
Our answer: it depends on the ratio of silk in your rug. If the rug is primarily made of silk, we do not recommend using it as a functional rug. Instead, try hanging the rug as wall art. However, if the rug is also composed of durable material, like the wool that we put in our silk rugs, then you have nothing to worry about!
How is silk made?
Silk is type of thin fiber that silkworms produce. These larvae produce silk for cocoons to nest in. After the silkworm leaves the cocoon, the silk can be taken to use as a textile.
